uglydolls debuted in 2001, when i was unfortunately not alive, and were created by Sun Min Kim and David Horvath. they made a movie about them in 2019, which was okay i guess? but didn't possess the same look and feel of the original plushes, which made me sad because the whole appeal to me is that these things are...ugly...different and unique. i still have Ox, which was my first one, and i recently got Trunko, so that's pretty cool (my brother has Jrumpy). they had conventions and they were so popular..before i was born, which i think is an injustice. how could they do this to me in particular.

anyways i bet you didn't know they made books though!!! or maybe you did. despite the simple appearances of these little guys, these bad boys contain so much lore!!

so i haven't read all the books, fake fan am i right??? just kidding don't say that to me i will cry!!! BUT i do have the first 2: ugly guide to the uglyverse, and ugly guide to things that go and things that should go but don't.

they all are so special and unique so i think its only fair that i share my favorite facts about them. Cinko resembles an octopus, almost, but he's afraid of water. MAJORLY afraid of water!!! one of his worst fears is that his family will take him through a drive thru and all order waters!!! and my favorite Ox, along with Wedgehead, are really good at turning other people's things into their things! Tray has three brains, one per lump, and is often confused, Icebat lives in a portable ice-box, and Moxie is known for her never-ending moxie.

it's been forever since i saw uglydolls in stores, and one day when i was with some friends, there they were in a tiny little diplay and with only three different ones. three is better than none, and thus began the toughest decision of the past three minutes. i've dreamt of uglydoll stores opening near me, thats how seriously i take this stuff, in case you were curious.

wow wow i love uglydolls so much i made this thing... hello to my precious child #YOLO (hashtag CANNOT be excluded)!!!!! i made this creature during my sculpture class because my brain wouldn't stop telling me i must make it. i had a bunch of different sketches for ideas, but this one stuck.

they're reminiscent of tray because of the three head lumps, and jrumpy cause of the three eyes, but i imagine they have the personality of moxy, and are quite energetic! but given the face, they don't really know what's happening ever...its ok we work on it!! the name actually came from a conversation with my friend when i was saying they needed a name that's just sort of a random word and not like a real name. i was thinking pickleball but they she said yolo and i think adding the hashtage was the perfect touch to add to that!!

so there might be a second one in the works...theoretically because i have multiple other projects that will probably consume my time. BUTTTT i will say this one in sketches is absolutely a cutie! they'll be called FOMO and have more of a cinko type personality, which aligns with the name!!!! yayyyyyy i love these little guys!!!!!
